Strategic Business Plan
Designing a Business Plan using Concept Design and Strategic Planning
There are so many different approaches to designing a business plan and the various strategies used to draft one. Neosynergy Consulting builds universes and we build all our proprietary models based on the universal paradigm.
Base Concept. We all have heard that energy is never created or destroyed, it is either converted or transferred. Energy is transferred from our senses and converted in our minds (Mental Energy) through our imagination. As our thoughts give way to emotion, the energy it creates transfers as well (Emotional Energy). And as our emotions builds and resolves we are at some point compelled to act (Physical energy). We use this simple module of energy production to create a concept model.
- Core Concept. We always start with core concepts. This is achieved by writing down everything you can think of in regards to your product or service. Write down the who, what, when, where, why, and how. Don't worry about how it reads. These thoughts are expected to be raw and unsophisticated. They will grow in their maturity as we progress in the concept phase. (Mental Energy)
- Core Values. Next, we translate those concepts into values. Define the beliefs and standards that each action must meet. This will make sure that as we bring others into our universe, customer and partner alike, they will understand how to interact within the world we have created. (Emotional Energy)
- Vision. At this point we should have our thoughts and emotions organized. So now we must compile them in different portions and combinations to achieve various sections of our plan. We start with the larger picture. The universal and long-term objective of our concept is our vision.
- Mission. Transparency of the vision needs to provided through our Mission statement. This will clearly define how our overall vision will be accomplished. Sometimes it is best to provide and internal and an external mission, one for intrinsic focus and one for extrinsic concentration.
- Objectives. After a holistic view is attained, it must be divided into small segments, mini-missions if you will, called objectives. These objectives are combined to form tactics and tactics are integrated to form strategies. The point is to deconstruct our vision into smaller, workable pieces that can be assigned to managers, departments or outsourced companies and then from there allocated to project teams and then to individuals, who through their actions bring accomplishment and fruition. (Physical Energy)
- Goals. In order for objectives to be successfully accomplished, goals must be created. Our focus must be intensely directed toward each objective. Every goal has an estimated outcome or due date to acknowledge its fulfillment. Where an objective intersects with a projected outcome of a tactic, strategy or mission is evidence of a goals completion. (See Visual Concept Model above)
- Aims. If vision is our long-term perspective then our aims are the short-term aspects. The secret to success in concept design and strategic planning is the ability to change our focus from short to long term as needed and knowing when the appropriate time is to do so. Every individual team member involved needs to have an aim. The team as a whole should have goals. The department should have objectives. The management should have missions. And the executives should have the vision. This is how concept design and strategic planning culminated into an effective business plan.
Planning. Once we have established the concept model, now we can apply it to the different sections of our business plan. In the beginning of our concept design we designated our who, what, when, where, why and how. We used that to clarify our focal points and outlook. Now we can use it to compile our business plan. The Executive Summary (what), Operational Plan (how), Marketing Plan (where), Management Plan (who), and Financial Plan (when) should each represent a different strategy and tactic for the overall mission and the universal vision.
The information we have provided incorporated strategic planning within the business planning process. If designed correctly, any company should be able to transfer their energy to their customers and partners and the subsequent actions will either increase productivity or revenue.
